What is a Long-Term Care Nurse?

A long-term care nurse works with patients in need of extended care due to severe illnesses, injuries, and disabilities. Some Long-term Care Nurses care for elderly patients that need more frequent care visits. Nurses in this field often find work in Acute Care Facilities as well as care settings such as Retirement Communities, Assisted Living communities, Home Health agencies, or Skilled Nursing facilities.

The responsibilities of a Long-Term Care Nurse will vary, but will often include being responsible for monitoring vital signs and administering medications.

Why become a Long-Term Care Nurse?

As our population ages and our lifespan increases, the need for nurses in a long-term care setting also increases which means that this is a field with a lot of opportunities. In addition to a rewarding and steady career, long-term nurses have the ability to connect with their patients and see their progress on a day to day basis.

Meet Brandy, a nurse at an Assisted Care community:

Brandy is a nurse at Farmington Square in Tualatin, Oregon. Her passion and dedication to her resident’s care is one of the many reasons we are proud to count her among the wonderful team of nurses that work in Radiant Senior Living communities.
